May support the horse's digestion, regulating the bacteria in the intestine and offers support to horses with ulcer problems
Equine Vitality's Marshmallow Root Powder (Althaea officinalis) is a wild harvested botanical, which could help with the horse's digestion / bacteria in their intestine and could also support horses with ulcer problems. It could reduce inflammation through soothing the gut and digestive tract. Marshmallow root contains large quantities of mucilage, a sticky sap that, when ingested, absorbs water and other liquids, forming a shielded layer over inflamed mucous membranes. Ideal for horses suffering from gastric or duodenal ulceration, constipation or diarrhoea. The mucilage soaks up excess stomach acids and inflammatory waste products which cause considerable pain when in contact with ulcers and forms a protective layer over the ulcer and the sensory nerve fibres that transmit pain. Marshmallow root can also be used externally; with its soothing, emollient properties it is ideal for application to light burns, minor wounds or skin irritations.

Ponies - 12g per day.
